1905 Ambartsumian : ウィキペディア英語版 | 1905 Ambartsumian
1905 Ambartsumian, provisional designation 1972 JZ, is an asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, roughly 12 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by Russian female astronomer Tamara Smirnova at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in Nauchnyj on 14 May 1972.〔 The asteroid orbits the Sun at a distance of 1.9–2.6 AU once every 3 years and 4 months (1,211 days). Its orbit shows an eccentricity of 0.16 and is tilted by 3 degrees to the plane of the ecliptic. Little is known about the asteroids size, composition, albedo and rotation, despite having a well-observed orbit with the lowest possible uncertainty – which is denoted by a condition code of 0 – and an observation arc that spans over a period of more than 80 years.〔 With an absolute magnitude of 12.8, the asteroid's diameter could be anywhere between 7 and 17 kilometers for an assumed albedo in the range of 0.05–0.25 ''(see NASA's conversion table)''.〔 Since an asteroid from the inner main-belt typically has a spectral type of a brighter, rocky body, rather than a darker, carbonaceous one, its true diameter may be on the lower end of NASA's generic conversion table, as, for a given absolute magnitude, an asteroid's diameter decreases, when its albedo increases. The asteroid was named after Soviet–Armenian scientist Victor Ambartsumian (1908–1996), founder of the Soviet School for Astrophysics, president of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR, director of the Byurakan Observatory, and president of the IAU (1961–1964).〔 == References ==
